Serve Team 2024-2025

Serve Team is for those who call Mosaic home and want to help the ministry run. There are several ways to serve, including leading PODS, facilitating Mosaic Thursdays, helping with outreach, and more. Below are our expectations for those who wish to be part of Serve Team:

Responsibilities

  • Perform all regular duties for your individual serve team (PODs, Mosaic Thursdays, social media, etc.)

Attendance

  • Attend PODs and Mosaic Thursdays as often as possible, as well as quarterly retreats

  • Attend Serve Team Retreat (this happens around one week before OSU’s welcome week)

  • Attend one dinner meeting at the beginning of the winter and spring terms (Serve Team Retreat takes the place of the fall term dinner meeting)

Faith and Discipleship

  • Meet regularly with a mentor (we will help you find one if you don’t already have one)

  • Represent the views and values of the ministry to the best of your ability

Core Team

Core Team is for students who are passionate about the mission and vision of Mosaic, and wish to take part in directing the ministry. These students will be part of Serve Team, but will also have some additional responsibilities which include more frequent meetings and a greater emphasis on evangelism and discipleship. Below are our expectations for those who wish to be part of Core Team:

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Serve Team requirements listed above

  • Be prepared to take a higher level of ownership of your individual serve team. This could include various aspects of leadership, care, and being a point of contact for your serve team

  • Be willing to help with extra events such as in-reach or tabling as your schedule allows

Attendance

  • Attend church regularly

  • Attend biweekly core team meetings, as well as any special call meetings if possible

Faith and Discipleship

  • Aim to disciple at least two other students

  • Be intentionally investing in at least one nonbelieving friend over the course of the year, and be prepared to share the gospel with them when given the opportunity

  • Commit to living a life of purity. This includes (but is not limited to):

    • Maintaining healthy emotional and sexual boundaries with other people

    • Abstaining from all drug use (exceptions made for legal and wise use of alcohol)

    • Taking steps to battle addictions to porn, drinking, drugs, gaming, etc.

  • Be open with your mentors (and a staff member, as needed) about sin struggles

2024-25 Mosaic Serve Team Descriptions

POD LEADER

POD leaders play an important role in helping students grow--spiritually with God and relationally with other students in the small group. Ideally, there will be two leaders in each POD. 

Expectations:

  • Pray continually for POD members and spend time in God’s Word consistently

  • Prepare and facilitate small group discussions each week

  • Arrange for POD members to be met with one-on-one throughout the year to encourage and challenge

  • Create opportunities for the group to build relationships with each other

  • Plan and prepare for POD Retreat weekend, organizing meals and finding rides

  • There will also be events throughout the year that may require PODs to be involved

Estimated time requirement:

5-6 hours/week (2 hours-POD meeting, 2 hours-POD prep, 1 to 2 hours-meeting one-on-one with POD members/assistant/disciple) with increased time during POD Retreat and other events during the year

SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM

The Social Media team will leverage Mosaic’s social media presence to engage the campus and help make disciples. If you have a knack for creating content or if you have a vision for how to engage your peers through social media, we need you. The content you would be responsible for are videos, stories, tik-tok/reels, posts, and graphics for promoting events. 

Expectations:

  • Create engaging, weekly content for ministry purposes 

  • Promote Mosaic events and initiatives via social media, making videos, etc

  • Manage Mosaic’s social media accounts in a way that reflects the mission and values of Mosaic

  • Make graphics for events and initiatives

  • Seek to collaborate with other Mosaic ministry teams 

Estimated time requirement:

Weekly and/or daily management of social media

Graphics will be requested for all events and initiatives 

Videos may be requested for retreat promotion, event promotion, etc

Other projects may be requested as necessary

Operations TEAM 

It takes many hands to accomplish the vision and mission of Mosaic throughout the year! This team will set up and tear down all of our events and prioritize prayer for everything we do. Ops members will be embedded in other ministry teams to lead in planning and communicating set up needs for their team’s specific events. If you’re looking for a way to serve in Mosaic behind-the-scenes, and grow in your relationship with God, sign up for this team. 

Expectations:

  • Arrive at 6:30 pm to set up and tear down for Mosaic Thursday nights. Pray for the evening before students arrive

  • Set up all Mosaic events (ex. Halloween party). Pray for events before students arrive

  • Transport supplies, set up, and clean up for all events during OSU Welcome Week. Pray for events before students arrive

  • Attend weekly planning meeting for your designated ministry team

  • Go to retreats early to transport supplies and set up. Pray for the retreat before students arrive

Estimated time requirement:

2.5 hours/week (1 hour team planning meeting, 1 hour-set up & pray for Mosaic Thursday nights, .5 hour-clean up Thursday nights) with increased time during Welcome Week, retreat weekends, and for Mosaic events

OUTREACH TEAM

Outreach Team is about connecting Mosaic students to the Great Commission through events and initiatives. All students on Serve Team are expected to share their faith with others, but this team will be tasked with going out to reach the campus regularly throughout the year! 

Expectations: 

  • Create, plan, and attend campus engagement events

  • Help with canvassing before events 

  • Follow up with students who you interact with at campus engagement events

Estimated time requirement:

3-4 hours/week (planning  and facilitating campus engagement events) 

THURSDAY NIGHT TEAM

Thursday night is the one time each week all of Mosaic gets together. This team is responsible for putting their creative minds together to plan a large weekly group gathering to allow Christians and non-Christians to gather in community, introduce new people to Jesus, and explore relevant topics. Although this team requires creativity, the role also requires responsible and administrative people. This team will oversee everything for each Thursday night, including set up and clean up. 

Expectations: 

  • Brainstorm and effectively communicate announcements every Thursday night

  • Create PowerPoint slides for announcements

  • Brainstorm and execute an icebreaker every Thursday night

  • Prioritize hospitality by welcoming people to Mosaicc, introducing new people to another leader, etc

  • Follow up with new people who come to Mosaic

4 hours/week (1 hour-team meeting, 3 hours- Thursday night gathering)
